1. Have I been placing expectations on people that only God can fulfill? Scripture: “You shall have no other gods before Me.” — Exodus 20:3
Sometimes we don’t realize that we’ve made people our source. We look to them for healing, validation, and security—things only God can fully provide. Ask yourself: Have I been depending on someone to do what only God can do in my life?
2. Is my desire for certain things rooted in truth or in hurt? Scripture: “For you shall worship no other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.” — Exodus 34:14
Desires aren’t wrong—but when they’re shaped by pain, loneliness, or past wounds, they can become distorted. Ask yourself: Is what I’m longing for aligned with God’s will, or is it coming from a place of emptiness I haven’t allowed God to heal yet?
3. Am I trusting God’s plan, even when it doesn’t match what I expected? Scripture: “Not my will, but Yours be done.” — Luke 22:42
Surrender is not easy—especially when you’ve imagined your life going a certain way. But trusting God means believing that His way is better, even when it’s different. Ask yourself: Can I truly surrender my plans and trust that God’s way is greater than mine?
4. Do I truly believe that God sees me and knows what’s best for me? Scripture: “You are the God who sees me.” — Genesis 16:13
God is not distant from your life. He sees every tear, every desire, every silent prayer. Ask yourself: Do I live like God sees me and is actively working in my life, or do I act as if I’m on my own?
